Training: Risk Control & Response

Ultimately the strongest first line of defence in effective risk control and management will always be the people within your organisation.

That is why, alongside our specialist assessment, prevention and investigatory services, we provide a full suite of training courses and seminars.

Our team will educate you how to prevent, disrupt & detect dishonest employees in your organisation: showing you who may be dishonest, how they will be dishonest and why they will be or become dishonest.

These courses are designed to help everyone, from board level down, play an active role in threat prevention, representing an important long-term investment in the health of your organisation.

The seminar was a real eye-opener into the possibilities of what employees are capable of in relation to theft and fraud at work. I would highly recommend this well presented and interactive session.

Theft, Fraud & Employee Dishonesty: Board Awareness, Responsibility & Response – 2 or 4 hours

Theft, fraud and dishonest employees can have a substantial financial and reputation impact on any size of business. This presentation is designed to help delegates better understand these risks, looking at issues including vulnerability, potential loss, employer obligations, preventative measures, lawful investigative responses and more.

This seminar is specifically designed for those at board or senior management level, and can be delivered as a two-hour seminar or four-hour interaction session with workshop.

Fraud Awareness – half day / one day

This course is designed to build delegates’ understanding of potential fraud and theft risks and offences, and how best to report and respond to any concerns. Covering ground including the motivation and indicators of fraud, appropriate policies and procedures, the role of investigation and investigators, and the responsibilities of staff and managers, this course is suitable for anyone in the public or private sector who may be in a position to identify inappropriate activity.

Introduction to Fraud Investigation – one day

Designed for anyone likely to undertake, or be involved in investigating, theft or fraud offences in the workplace, this course will acquaint staff with the entire investigation process.

It will cover critical legislative areas such as the Fraud and Theft Act, Criminal Procedures Act, Data Protection Act and Human Rights Act, and look at the key requirements for witness statements, exhibits and other evidential matters.

Internal Investigations – two day

This comprehensive two-day course covers all aspects of the investigation process, particularly where criminal offences may be involved. The course follows the investigation process from end-to-end, from the decision to launch an investigation right through to potential employment tribunal or police engagement.

Investigation Interview Skills – two days

For anyone involved in intelligence or evidence gathering and conducting interviews with witnesses or suspects during internal disciplinary or investigatory matters, this is an essential two-day course. It will provide the knowledge and confidence needed to maximise the gathering of effective information from interviews.

Expert investigations give a fascinating perspective on how real results can be achieved outside of the formal law enforcement agencies. Their range of professional skills and abilities is one to be envied by many in fraud prevention and detection.

Cyber Security & Privacy Essential – one day

The Cyber Security & Privacy Essentials course will both broaden and deepen your understanding of cyber security. With collective cyber security awareness being a critical line of defence in any organisation, this course gives your team the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals who work at the sharp end of cyber-attack and security.

Employee Cyber Security – half day

Cyber security is far from an IT matter – the vast majority of cases involve accidental or malicious human factors. Staff awareness and vigilance is critical, and yet few organisations currently provide staff with appropriate training or have formal policies in place. This course highlights the simple steps that employees can take to dramatically reduce the risk of becoming a victim, both in the work and home environment.

Expert Investigations delivered a bespoke seminar to our litigation team which provided an entertaining snapshot of the ways in which Expert Investigations can use their knowledge and expertise to assist with the needs of our clients. They understood the issues that we face as a law firm in gathering evidence and were very good at providing practical advice as to how we can best work together.
