Surveillance is a method whereby a team of officers will follow an individual or property in order to gather primary evidence of what is occurring in the investigation. Movements and activities will be lawfully covertly recorded and any other relevant evidence and intelligence will also be preserved
Examples of surveillance maybe following somebody who is in breach of contract, falsely absent from work or is in possession of stolen items. Alternatively a surveillance team may follow stolen items to their final destination
Observations is a method whereby a team of officers will statically observe an individual or property from a location. That location may be an observations vehicle, premises or even the undergrowth.
Observations can be used for monitoring the events and activities at a location or movement or goods or even activities of anti social behaviour.
