Do not under estimate the value of evidence to dismiss, criminally prosecute or take civil recovery action against a dishonest employee.
Lets face it, you report it to the Police and there is no action. Take control of matters and at least gather the evidence whilst it is still there and then choose your options.
A recent case we investigated involved the employee stealing £80 000 worth of product and selling in on ebay. The chosen strategy was to gather the evidence, interview the employee and hand an evidential file to the Police.
2 weeks later, the thefts are proven beyond all reasonable doubt. The employee denied the thefts and a file was handed to Police.
The employee reflected on his actions and his denials and after a few days admitted the thefts in an email, citing an addiction for the reason for theft. This is more compelling evidence.
6 weeks later he is still not arrested…..but the evidence is safe, secure and can wait until required by the Police, when they get around to arresting him.
